Whatever your situation, my prayer is that you will face your need of God’s forgiveness and grace, and commit your life to Jesus Christ. In our culture today, we tend to think of the heart as the home of our emotions, sending chalky-tasting heart-shaped candies to one another to express our love and affection, but the biblical concept of the heart is broader than the emotions. ![]() And someday, the Bible warns, all our actions will be judged, public or private. Jesus summarizes His higher standard by stating, The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks ( Luke 6:45 ). For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). He said, “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. Jesus pointed out that what we are on the inside-in our hearts and minds-inevitably affects how we’ll live on the outside. Israel’s King David declared, “I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity” (1 Chronicles 29:17). The politician or businessman who cheats on his wife or lies to his children is far more likely to take a bribe or swindle someone in a business deal. In fact, one of our greatest needs today is for men and women of consistency and integrity-people with high moral standards that influence every part of their lives, both private and public. We beseech you to help us walk wisely in your ways, in Jesus’ Name.I know this is a popular view today, but I can’t agree with those who say a person’s private life doesn’t matter or have anything to do with how they live in public. May we forgive and assist those quintessentially good people, who may commit error and relent, and circumvent those who, with hypocritical sweetness trap us into evil. ![]() The attitude and general behavior of people shows what lies in their heart. Do not allow erroneous judgment to cloud our mind. Help us to speak kindly and without prejudice and to navigate safely around what is not favorable according to your holy precepts. We need to distinguish between the good and the evil, avoiding the latter if they fail to reform.įather, help us to stay clear of evil influences and practices associated with wickedness. Only by entering the truth and learning how to discern all kinds of people can we shun evil. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. As believers in our Father God, we are expected to choose the path of Truth, and those with whom we mingle should be like-minded in all matters of principle. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. The Holy Spirit has been given to us by Jesus himself to help us through our life as Christians and followers of Christ. For we have the fruits of salvation which our Lord Jesus made available to us, and our faith and exemplary conduct in thought, word and deed will aid us in winning that grace. We speak of the magnificence of our God, with words bursting forth from our overflowing and grateful hearts. Our mouths tell of your mercy, holiness and perfection. – Luke 6:45Īlmighty Father, we worship your Majesty and Glory with our tongue and sing praises of your Mighty Power with our lips. It is imperative that we know when a person speaks, it is an overflow of what is inside his heart. In Luke 6:45 the bible says: For the mouth speaks that which fills his heart. The Bible gives us insights on how we can see and know the condition of the hearts of people. A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good, but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.
